New OPD Facility Opens at Sishu Bhawan to Enhance Patient Care

Cuttack, Feb 17: The newly inaugurated outpatient department (OPD) at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishu Bhawan) in Cuttack has started operations in the G6 building. The Medicine and Surgery OPDs are now functioning on the ground floor, with paediatric specialists attending to patients starting at 9 am.

Previously operating in cramped conditions, the Medicine OPD now has ten designated rooms, six of which are in use. The Surgery OPD is equipped with four consultation cabins. New amenities include eight ticket counters, a pharmacy, drinking water stations, and upgraded waiting areas, all aimed at improving patient convenience.

Security personnel from Lalbagh Police Station have been deployed to ensure safety as some finishing work continues. The G6 building, which cost approximately ₹127.35 crore to construct, was completed after a delay and has now been fully operationalized, marking a significant enhancement in paediatric healthcare in the area.

Patients have expressed satisfaction with the expanded facility, especially with the improved space and cleanliness.
