Odisha Secures 13th Position in Women Led MSMEs Nationwide

9th August 2025, Bhubaneswar: Odisha has achieved a significant milestone by securing the 13th rank in India for the number of women-led Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), reflecting the growing role of women entrepreneurs in the state’s economic development.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of MSME, the state has witnessed a steady rise in enterprises owned and managed by women. This progress is the result of various state and central government initiatives aimed at empowering women, promoting financial inclusion, and providing access to credit and skill development.

Officials from the MSME Department noted that targeted schemes, training programs, and easier access to finance through platforms like Udyam registration, PMEGP, and Mission Shakti have significantly contributed to encouraging women to take up entrepreneurship across diverse sectors including textiles, food processing, handicrafts, and services.

The state government remains committed to further improving Odisha’s position by fostering an inclusive business environment, strengthening market linkages, and offering continued policy support for aspiring and existing women entrepreneurs.

This achievement underscores the transformational impact of women’s participation in the MSME sector, and Odisha’s growing momentum toward inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
