OPGC Plans Stage-III Expansion with Two New 660 MW Units

27th March 2025: Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) is set to take a significant step towards expanding its power generation capacity with the upcoming Stage-III expansion project. The corporation is preparing to float tenders for the installation of two new 660 MW units, which will greatly enhance its electricity production capabilities.

As part of this expansion, OPGC also plans to shut down two of its existing units temporarily for necessary ash pond repairs. These upgrades are aimed at improving operational efficiency and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the power plants.

The addition of the two 660 MW units is expected to strengthen Odisha’s power infrastructure and contribute to meeting the growing energy demand in the region. With this expansion, OPGC is reaffirming its commitment to supporting the state’s energy needs and promoting economic growth.
