Spanish Ambassador Meets Odisha CM to Explore Investment Opportunities in Renewable Energy and Textiles

Bhubaneswar, April 21, 2025Spanish Ambassador to India, Juan Antonio March Pujol, paid a courtesy visit to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan. The meeting focused on strengthening cultural and economic ties between Spain and Odisha, with a special emphasis on investment opportunities in key sectors.

During the discussion, the Ambassador expressed Spain’s keen interest in collaborating with Odisha in sectors such as renewable energy, metallurgy, textiles, and automotive manufacturing. He noted that Odisha offers immense potential for industrial cooperation and technology exchange.

Chief Minister Majhi highlighted Odisha’s status as one of India’s fastest-growing states, emphasizing its investor-friendly policies and strong infrastructure. He also briefed the Ambassador on the State’s Renewable Energy Policy, which has attracted the interest of Spanish companies like Siemens Gamesa, Acciona, and Iberdrola.

In a significant development, the CM mentioned an upcoming investment of ₹90 crore by the French-Spanish joint venture Revalier Group and its subsidiary Timb Magnesium India Pvt. Ltd., for setting up a manufacturing unit in Khordha district.

Both sides discussed the potential for Spanish investment in Odisha’s technical apparel and textile sector, with opportunities for garment sourcing and skill development.

The meeting is seen as a step forward in deepening Indo-Spanish collaboration, potentially opening a new chapter of industrial and cultural exchange between Odisha and Spain.
