Bhubaneswar, 2nd June 2025: The Odisha unit of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has called on the state government to provide free transportation for students using government-run services and a 50% fare concession in private transport.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan, NSUI state president Udit Pradhan highlighted the financial burden students face due to rising transport costs, particularly those from rural and economically weaker backgrounds. He emphasized that many students are forced to spend significant amounts just to attend classes and exams.
Pradhan, along with other leaders including Syed Yasir Nawaz, former OPCC general secretary Manoj Biswal, and Youth Congress general secretary Nihar Ranjan Behera, urged the government to act swiftly. The NSUI has set a deadline of June 10 for implementation and warned of state-wide protests if their demands are not met.
