Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: The Odisha government has announced the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in schools across the state, following its successful adoption in state-run universities and colleges. This move aligns the state’s education system with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), while integrating local context to ensure relevance and engagement for students.
According to a notification issued by the School and Mass Education department, the policy, as directed by the Ministry of Education (MoE), will guide the curriculum in Odisha schools. The state will adopt a framework that blends national standards with regional needs and cultural considerations, providing a more contextualized learning experience.
The NEP 2020, which aims to transform India’s education system, focuses on promoting holistic development, critical thinking, and skill enhancement. With this localized approach, Odisha seeks to strengthen its education system, making it more adaptable and responsive to the specific needs of its students.
Earlier in November 2024, the Odisha government had already implemented NEP in its universities and affiliated colleges. This expansion to schools further underscores the state’s commitment to educational reform, aiming to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for future success.
