Delhi Enforces GRAP-4 as Air Pollution Reaches Hazardous Levels

New Delhi, Nov 18: With air pollution in Delhi reaching emergency levels on Monday, the Delhi government has implemented GRAP-4 (Graded Response Action Plan) to curb the worsening air quality. Starting today, offline classes will be held only for 10th and 12th grade students, while all other classes will transition to online mode until further instructions.

In a statement on social media, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi confirmed that offline classes will continue for students in grades 10 and 12, but all other students will attend classes virtually due to the ongoing pollution crisis. This decision comes as Delhi’s air quality has been in the “severe” category for five consecutive days.

The GRAP-4 phase was triggered at 8 AM on Monday as the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached hazardous levels, with a recorded AQI of 441 on Sunday afternoon. By 7 PM, the AQI worsened further to 457, putting residents at heightened health risk.

These measures are part of the Delhi government’s ongoing efforts to address the public health crisis caused by extreme air pollution. Authorities have urged continued adherence to safety protocols as air quality remains critical.
