Tributes Paid as Laxman Nayak’s Birth Anniversary Marks His Legacy of Valor

Jeypore, Nov 25: The birth anniversary of Martyr Laxman Nayak, the well-known freedom fighter of undivided Koraput district and a symbol of the people’s pride. On this occasion, floral tributes were offered at his statue located near Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput, followed by a discussion on his life and contributions.

Laxman Nayak was born on 22 November 1899 in Tentuligumma village of Koraput district. He was known as a prominent tribal leader who worked tirelessly for the development of tribal regions. In Koraput, he was popularly regarded as the “Gandhi of Koraput.”

He endured severe torture at the hands of the British, yet he bravely fought for the protection of his motherland from British exploitation. His contribution to India’s freedom struggle is immeasurable. Though he sacrificed his life for the nation, India continues to remember him with deep respect.
The golden son of Koraput, Martyr Laxman Nayak, may no longer be physically present, but his memory remains alive among the people. Today, Koraput feels proud remembering him.

At his statue located in Koraput town, floral tributes were offered. Those present at the event included Koraput MLA Raghuram Padal, State Congress Women’s Wing President Minakshi Bahinipati, BJP State Mahila Morcha Secretary Purnima Nayak, Additional District Magistrate Tapan Kumar Nayak, District Congress President Rupak Turuk, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Elat Ganjan Sethy, along with several others.

Similarly, at the statue of Martyr Laxman Nayak near his monastery in Jaypur, Jaypur Municipal Council Chairman Narendra Kumar Mohanty, Sadar Police Station IIC Sachitra Ray, and Public Relations Officer Jojata Gadaba, among other dignitaries, offered floral tributes and remembered his great contributions.
