Jeypore, 29th Aug 2025: Due to low-pressure-induced rainfall in Koraput district, 13 houses collapsed and roofs were blown away on Tuesday in Jeypore tehsil. On Monday night, heavy rains damaged houses in several villages under different panchayats.
In Kanga Panchayat’s Khutuguda village, the house of Subhadra Ged collapsed.
In Dumuriguda, the house of Urmila Sahu was destroyed.
In Phampuni, Hari Bhumia’s house was damaged.
In Kalaguda, Andharu Pujari’s house collapsed.
In *Malidambaguda village (Jamunda Panchayat), Manjula Harijan lost her house.
In Pujariguda, the house of Dinabandhu Bhatra was destroyed.
In Putra, Dhanapati Bhatra’s house collapsed.
In Bali Pujariput village, the house of Karvik Chalan was damaged.
In Kalasahandi, Khageswar Barik lost his house.
In Ambaguda, Samuel Harijan’s house collapsed.
In Daleiguda village, Kailash Gadaba and Sonu Gadaba’s houses were destroyed.
In Dhanpur Panchayat, Gouri Harijan’s house collapsed.
Additional Tehsildar Chittaranjan Pattnaik visited the affected sites, assessed the damages, and distributed polythene sheets to the families. Revenue office staff, including Supervisor Harihar Satapathy, Dilip Kumar Pradhan, and Revenue Inspector Diptimay Giri, were present during the relief work.
Similarly, rainfall destroyed 5 houses across 3 revenue circles under Nandapur Tehsil. According to official information:
In Panthlung Panchayat (Padua revenue circle), Mukta Pampa’s house collapsed.
In Kularsing Panchayat, the house of Parshuram Burudi was damaged.
In Khnamung village, one house collapsed.
In Nandapur revenue circle, Samara Khara and Prahlad Nayak’s mud houses developed cracks and collapsed partially.
Tehsildar Debabrata Maharana informed that all affected families were provided with polythene sheets by revenue inspectors. Damage assessments will be reported to the district administration, and compensation under the house damage assistance scheme will be arranged.
In one case, at Nandapur, a person’s mud house wall collapsed due to the rain.
