9,000 NHM Workers to Be Freed from Contractual Service: CM’s Assurance

Bhubaneswar, 26th Aug 2025: After many years, relief is finally in sight for contractual health workers. Around 9,000 employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) across various health centers in the state will benefit, as the government has given a green signal, the Odisha NHM Employees’ Association confirmed.

A delegation of the Odisha NHM Employees’ Association, led by its president, met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday and discussed their long-pending issues. The delegation informed that for the last 20 years, they have been working in hospitals under the health department with meager salaries.

The Chief Minister assured that the state government is fully aware of the problems faced by NHM employees and discussions are already underway. A permanent solution will soon be worked out through a policy decision. The CM also emphasized that the government is giving priority to solving the problems in both the education and health sectors.
