After Long Break, Differently-Abled Child Resumes Education with Renewed Hope

Mathuli, Dec, 04: A differently-abled student from the village of Mahupadar under Mathili Block in Malkangiri district, who had stopped attending school while in Class 8, has now returned.

After senior teacher Randhakar Pal learned about this news, he informed Sumit Sumi, the Group Education Officer. Following the instructions of BEO Shri Biswas, efforts were made to bring the differently-abled student, Jayaram Madi, back to school.

The teacher of Mahupadar Ashram School, Sangita Biswas, contacted Shri Pal. She repeatedly explained to Jayaram and arranged for his enrollment in the local high school. However, Jayaram’s father was initially adamant about not sending him to school. Upon learning this, his grandparents and neighbors persuaded him daily to attend school. Now, Jayaram regularly goes to the high school.

The headmaster has confirmed that when Jayaram was younger, he had suffered an injury to his leg, which made it immobile. Later, with the cooperation of the Education Department and through an operation facilitated by RBSK, his previously immobile leg became functional, though it is still slightly bent. He now travels using a bamboo support.

Today, following the instructions of BEO Shri Biswas, a trial cycle was presented to Jayaram in the presence of Group Education Officer Chhatis Chandra Nayak, Shri Pal, and CRCS Dhanu Odi. Meanwhile, a transport allowance of ₹1,000 was also provided to the differently-abled student by the Mathili Group Education Officer.

Jayaram is happy to attend school on his new bicycle and is determined to study more diligently.
