Awareness Drive Against Child Marriage Held in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda, March, 11:A district-level workshop and awareness march related to the “Child Marriage-Free India” 100-day campaign was successfully conducted today in Jharsuguda under the joint initiative of the District Administration’s Department of Social Welfare and the District Women’s Empowerment Department.

The programme was held at the Sub-Collector’s Conference Hall, where extensive discussions were conducted on child protection and the prevention of child marriage.

The workshop began with a large awareness march at 9:00 AM from the District Collector’s office premises. District Social Welfare Officer Mrs. Jayanti Gartia flagged off the march. Students from various schools, Anganwadi workers, local SHG members, women’s empowerment organizations, and other community workers participated, raising slogans to sensitize the public against child marriage.

The workshop was chaired by Sub-Collector Sabyasachi Panda, and CWSC Chairperson Ashish Panda attended as the chief guest. They provided detailed information about the role of Childline, legal measures for child protection, and the rescue process.

Campaign ambassadors Mrs. Meenakshi Raj and Gender Specialist Mrs. Junmi Rani Patel shared information on the success of the 100-day awareness programme carried out across villages and various educational institutions.

At the conclusion of the programme, certificates were awarded to students who performed exceptionally in various competitions. Additionally, village leaders, teachers, and rural artists who contributed significantly to preventing child marriage were honored with appreciation certificates.

The entire programme was conducted under the coordination of Mrs. Jnaniseni Mahananda, with on-site supervision by District Coordinator Lileshwar Sahu and with support from the district administration staff, ensuring its smooth and successful execution.
