Awareness Rath Rolled Out in Nabarangpur for Nutrition and Child Adoption

Nabarangpur,Dec, 06: As per the directives of the State Government’s Department of Women and Child Development, the District Administration of Nabarangpur, along with the District Child Protecti  on Unit, organized a District-level National Nutrition Child Adoption Awareness Camp to mark the National Nutrition Month. The event took place at the Ashok Mehta Conference Hall in the District Collector’s office.

In the meeting, District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swaim, who chaired the event, emphasized that various departments of the administration are working together to ensure the safety of every child in the district. He also stated that every child in society needs a family. He highlighted that according to the law, if children receive proper nutrition, they can remain safe and secure. The District Administration has also taken steps to ensure that any illegal child adoptions are prevented.

Dr. Swaim further informed that any children found living with individuals other than their biological parents should be immediately brought to the nearest Child Welfare Committee for action, failing which, such adoptions will be considered illegal, and the child will be placed under government custody.

Additionally, a survey of all sectors will be conducted, and a list will be provided to the District Collector at the earliest.

Present at the event were various dignitaries including D.S.P. Saroj Poonam Kishpata, District Social Welfare Officer Draupadi Kahar, Additional District Medical Officer Dr. Malaya Kumar Tripathy, District Mangal Officer Rabindra Palka, District Niyojan Officer Anand Palei, and others involved in child protection, along with Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, and members of the community.

As part of the program, a special awareness Rath was flagged off by the District Collector, Dr. Maheshwar Swaim, at 10:00 AM, which will travel through all 10 blocks of Nabarangpur District, spreading messages about child adoption and the importance of proper nutrition.

The awareness campaign will focus on raising public awareness about children’s safety, legal adoption, the prevention of child marriage, and the elimination of child labor. It aims to eliminate harmful traditional practices like child marriage, which deprive children of their rights to education and well-being. Through these efforts, the campaign seeks to ensure that children’s rights, safety, and education are prioritized in society.

The campaign also involves educating people about the protection of children, their rights to safety and education, and the importance of legal adoption procedures as per the constitution.

The event was attended by several officials, including those from child protection units, managers of nutrition centers, anganwadi workers, and other stakeholders involved in child welfare.
