Balikuda Shock: Women Lose ‘Subhadra’ Deposits in Rs20 Crore Online Scam

Balikuda,25th Aug 2025: A major online fraud has come to light in Balikuda block of Jagatsinghpur district. A written complaint has been filed at Anantapur outpost alleging that more than ₹20 crore was swindled through an online app named Huge India, which was operational in areas under Anantapur outpost and Bhandar Marine Police Station limits.

According to the complaint, several women in the locality invested their Subhadra savings (government-linked women’s welfare funds) into the app and lost everything. Police have registered the complaint and launched an investigation.

As per allegations, about five months ago, a local man working in a private firm in Cuttack, in association with a retired army personnel, introduced this app in Balikuda. They convinced village women and youths to join. The app promised daily earnings of ₹615 to ₹900 if users invested ₹5,000, ₹5,500, or ₹16,500. Rumors of high profits quickly spread, attracting thousands of new investors.

Gradually, over 3,000 women and youths from the area were lured into investing their savings. The app also promoted a referral scheme—where users could earn ₹10,500 in their wallet by adding new members through their ID.

Now, after the sudden collapse of the app, investors have been left devastated. Many women who had deposited their Subhadra money have become completely bankrupt. Police are continuing their probe into the large-scale scam.
