Kotpad,March, 13: A Bhim Bhoi Disability Camp was organized at the premises of the Kotpad Panchayat Samiti Office.
In today’s camp, persons with disabilities from Kotpad Block and the NAC area were present. A district-level medical team conducted examinations to assess the nature and percentage of disabilities, enabling eligible beneficiaries to qualify for allowances.
The programme was attended by Kotpad Block BDO Sandhya Rani Samrath, Kotpad NAC Chairman M. Shankar Rao, MP’s representative Ashutosh Mahapatra, MLA’s representative Suren Mohanty, Chairperson Kamala Bhatra, Vice-Chairperson Tapan Panigrahi, Sarpanch Kamala Pujari, Sumitra Samrath, Parbati Amanatya, along with all Sarpanches, ward members, Samiti members, NAC ward members Salma Begum and Syed Yusuf Ali.
Senior doctors including Physiotherapist Dr. Sarita Rath, Achanda Behera, Abhishek Behera, District Disability Officer Prema Khudu, all PEOs, teachers, and staff members of Kotpad Block were present and extended full cooperation.
A total of 190 persons with disabilities were identified in the camp, including:
Orthopedic disabilities – 96 cases
Speech and hearing impairments – 30 cases
Visual impairments – 20 cases
Sickle cell and thalassemia – 9 cases
Mental disabilities – 35 cases
Special arrangements were made considering the summer season, including tents and drinking water facilities. Students of Kotpad College also volunteered and provided full assistance to the persons with disabilities during the camp.
