Bhubaneswar Railway Station Redevelopment: A Key Milestone Achieved

30th January 2025: In a significant development for the modernization of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, the state government has granted approval for the construction of an elevated driveway and exit road on the Master Canteen Square side of the station. This crucial step will help drive forward the station’s redevelopment project.

The approved plan includes the construction of the elevated approach road on land allocated by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA). The project is a result of close collaboration between East Coast Railway (ECoR) and BDA, ensuring the redevelopment proceeds efficiently while aligning both parties’ interests.

In addition to the elevated road, the redevelopment will focus on enhancing parking spaces and developing commercial areas within the station precincts. The BDA is also planning to build commercial spaces on the land allotted to them, creating a more integrated and modern environment for passengers.

Indian Railways has committed ₹419 crore to this ambitious redevelopment, which aims to provide top-notch amenities for travelers. The upgraded station will feature modern facilities, including multiple entry points, an air-conditioned concourse connecting all platforms, separate access points for entry and exit, lifts, escalators, baggage security check-in, an information center, a food plaza, and comfortable waiting areas.

This redevelopment is part of the Indian Railways Amrit Station Scheme, which aims to transform stations into world-class hubs, ensuring a seamless and pleasant travel experience for all passengers. The redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station is expected to be a key asset for the city and its travelers in the coming years.
