Big Relief for Parents: Free Bus Travel for School Students Announced

Bhubaneswar,  17th Sept 2025:  School students can now travel free of cost in government buses. They will be allowed free travel upon showing their identity card. Under the Mukhyamantri Bus Seva (Chief Minister’s Bus Service), students from Class 1 to Class 12 will be eligible for this benefit.

If students are in school uniform and present their school ID card, their bus fare will be waived. This decision has been announced by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond to the media.

This move came following a review meeting of the School and Mass Education Department held recently, where Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made several significant decisions aimed at the qualitative improvement of primary education.

  • The SCERT will be developed further based on the NCERT framework.
  • Schematic teachers (contractual/temporary) will be regularized.
