Malkangiri, April 15: In a major step to strengthen sports infrastructure and bring young talent into the spotlight, the district administration of Malkangiri has taken significant initiatives.
District Collector Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshirke visited the sports complex and hostel located at the district headquarters and reviewed the development of sports infrastructure as well as the preparations for the upcoming CM Trophy.
During the inspection, the Collector examined various sections of the sports complex and emphasized providing better facilities for athletes. He reviewed the condition of the running track for proper training and directed concerned officials to ensure its maintenance and necessary improvements.
He also advised the District Sports Officer to ensure proper management and continuous functionality of indoor stadiums located across different blocks of the district so that players can use them regularly.
To enhance security, the Collector instructed that boundary wall construction around the sports complex should begin immediately.
The district administration aims to organize the CM Trophy sports event in Malkangiri with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The competition is expected to identify hidden talents from rural areas and provide them with a larger platform.
The Collector stressed the importance of coordination among all departments to ensure smooth execution of the program.
On this occasion, he also interacted with the residents of the sports hostel and inquired about their facilities and issues. He stated that providing proper training and a good environment for athletes is a top priority of the district administration.
The review meeting was attended by the District Sports Officer and other administrative officials. The proactive approach of the administration to promote sports among the youth has generated enthusiasm among local sports lovers.
