Sep 30: India secured another gold medal at the Asian Games as Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav won the compound mixed team title after a closely fought final against South Korea.
The Indian pair finished the final with a 157-157 draw, forcing a shoot-off to decide the gold medal. Chikitha and Sahil held their nerve in the deciding round to edge their South Korean opponents and claim the top spot.
The victory also earned India a quota place for the compound mixed team event at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, where compound archery is set to make its Olympic debut.
For Chikitha, the victory added another gold medal to her Asian Games campaign. She had earlier helped India win the women’s compound team gold.
The performance drew congratulations from President Droupadi Murmu, who praised the Indian archers for their accuracy, determination and composure in the closely contested final.
The gold adds to India’s strong showing in compound archery and highlights the growing success of Indian archers on the international stage. The LA28 quota also marks an important step for India ahead of the sport’s Olympic debut.
