Collector Inspects Family-Based Farming Initiative at Tentulikhunti

Tentulikhunti, Feb, 6: District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain visited various Family Farm initiatives and environment-based development activities implemented by the Sugami organization in Tentulikhunti block.

During his visit, BDO Manoj Panigrahi, Horticulture Director Shubhendu Biswas, Additional District Magistrate Tapan Kumar, Agriculture Officer Barun Dhanapur, District Project Coordinator Govinda Kumar and others were present.

Project Director Jagannath Jena briefed the Collector about the works carried out under different projects. On this occasion, the District Collector first visited Godiriguda under Samanjuja Panchayat and inspected the farm of farmer Bhukchan Patra. He expressed satisfaction after observing the cultivation of mango, guava, lemon and other crops, along with intercropping practices, organic manure preparation and sustainable farming methods. Farmer Patra is also engaged in mushroom cultivation.

It was informed that through mushroom farming he is earning approximately Rs1,60,000 annually and has become self-reliant. Nearly 50 farmers of Godigaon village have also developed Family Farms under guidance and increased their income.

Later, Dr. Swain visited Abatiaguda village under Manchagaon, where initiatives supported by the Azim Premji Foundation such as solar fencing, family farming, and organic cultivation through solar lift irrigation have been implemented. He interacted with farmers regarding the facilities and challenges faced by them.
The District Collector explained how various government schemes can be effectively implemented in these villages and emphasized coordinated efforts among line departments to ensure better progress and development.
