Kotpad, Feb, 24: The Kotpad Contractors’ Association staged a mass sit-in protest in front of the NAC office opposing the government’s new tender process.
An eight-point charter of demands by the State Contractors’ Association was submitted to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, seeking amendments to the new tender rules. The association stated that the protest will continue until the government withdraws the circular. Contractors have also decided not to participate in any official work in support of the State Contractors’ Association’s decision.
Kotpad Contractors’ Association President Prashant Pattnaik said that the agitation will continue until their demands are met.
Among others present at the protest were Vice-President Suren Mohanty, Secretary Gupta Swain, Joint Secretary Bijay Madala, Treasurer Kiran Patnaik, Rakesh Nayak, Tapan Mohapatra, Umesh Brahma, Shrimanta Panda, Tushar Bisoi, Bikash Patnaik, Ishwar Mohanty, Banarjee Rao, Santosh Mishra, Sunil Das, B. Santosh, Bada Sadangi, K. Ravi, and others.
Senior lawyers of Kotpad, including Pankaj Kumar Patra, Jitendra Mohapatra, and Pradeep Bakshi, visited the protest site, discussed the contractors’ demands, and assured support in the legal battle.
