Cyclone ‘Fengal’ Approaches India’s Coast: Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Expected

27th November 2024: Cyclone Fengal is rapidly intensifying over the Bay of Bengal and is expected to become a severe cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for coastal areas, with strong winds of up to 80 km/h and heavy rainfall predicted in the coming days.

Currently forming over the south-western Bay of Bengal, Cyclone Fengal is expected to move towards the Tamil Nadu coast before shifting north-west. The storm could also affect parts of Sri Lanka and India’s southern coastline. Authorities have warned of possible flooding, strong winds, and significant disruptions in the region.

The storm is expected to reach full cyclone strength by November 27. As it approaches, the IMD has advised residents in the affected areas to remain on high alert and take necessary precautions. Additionally, another depression could form over the western Himalayan region by November 29, bringing further weather changes.

Coastal residents are urged to stay informed about the latest updates and follow safety guidelines as Cyclone Fengal makes its way toward land.
