Devotees Gather in Large Numbers for the Consecration of the New Maa Banadurga Devi Temple and Sacred Idol

Baliguda, June 29 {UDN}: A three-day consecration ceremony for the newly built temple and idol of Maa Banadurga Devi commenced with Vedic rituals at Biraguda, near Baliguda in Kandhamal district, beginning on the auspicious Shukla Paksha Ashtami of the month of Jyestha.

On the opening day, a Kalash Yatra was held, during which devotees collected holy water from the confluence of the Damdei and Apra rivers. Rituals such as Ankuraropana (seed sowing ceremony) and Dhanyabhisheka (offering of sacred grains) were also performed.

The religious ceremonies are being conducted by chief priest Pramod Kumar Mohapatra, along with priests Jagannath Panda from Jagatsinghpur and Prakash Panda from Jajpur. Suresh Panda is serving as the Karta, while Madhu Lika Panda is overseeing the religious proceedings.

According to the temple committee, the second day will feature Nama Yajna, Ghrita Yajna, Anna Yajna, Rahamud, and the temple installation rituals. The final day, Wednesday, will include the Yamuna Yatra, the Prana Pratishtha (consecration of the deity), and the Purnahuti ceremony marking the successful conclusion of the sacred yajna.

The event has drawn devotees from the surrounding areas, who are participating with great devotion and enthusiasm in the spiritual celebrations.
