Bhubaneswar,Oct 15 [UDN}: The Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) has advised all Puja committees in the city to install CCTV cameras at their respective Puja pandals to strengthen security and ensure the safety of devotees and visitors during the festive celebrations.
According to the DCP, a total of 195 Puja pandals across Bhubaneswar have been classified into three categories — A, B and C — based on the expected crowd size and the level of public gathering. The categorisation is intended to help police assess security requirements and make appropriate arrangements at each location.
The DCP said all Puja committees have agreed to install CCTV cameras at their pandals as part of the security measures. The surveillance systems are expected to help monitor crowd movement, identify suspicious activities and facilitate a prompt response to any untoward incident.
In addition to CCTV surveillance, police personnel in plain clothes will also remain present at Puja pandals to maintain vigilance and monitor activities discreetly. These measures are aimed at preventing security breaches, managing crowds effectively and ensuring a peaceful environment throughout the celebrations.
The Bhubaneswar Police are focusing on coordinated security arrangements at all 195 pandals, with particular attention to locations expected to attract large gatherings. The initiative seeks to ensure that devotees can participate in the festivities safely and peacefully.
