JharsugudaSept 7 [UDN}:A grand district-level programme was organised at the MCL Auditorium in Beheramal for the disbursement of the fifth instalment under the Odisha Government’s ambitious and transformative ‘Subhadra’ Scheme.
The programme was organised on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Purnima, during which a total of Rs 65 crore, 11 lakh and 20 thousand was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 1,30,224 eligible women beneficiaries in Jharsuguda district.
At the beginning of the programme, the mothers and sisters present at the event tied rakhis to the guests, extending their affection and greetings. The guests were also felicitated with saplings. The programme formally commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
Attending as the chief guest, Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the district on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. He said that Raksha Bandhan is a festival celebrating sacred relationships.
He stated that the Subhadra Scheme is a historic initiative aimed at ensuring the economic empowerment, self-reliance and dignified living of women. He added that the annual financial assistance of Rs 10,000, provided in two instalments and directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, would not only empower women but also strengthen the rural and urban economy across Odisha.
The MLA also highlighted several other public welfare initiatives of the State Government, including the Kanya Bibaha Yojana and the Jagannath Darshan Yojana.
Jharsuguda District Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan, who attended as the guest of honour, emphasised the importance of women’s empowerment. He advised the women beneficiaries to utilise and invest the financial assistance received under the Subhadra Scheme in appropriate and productive activities to become economically self-reliant.
Pramod Senapati, representative of the Hon’ble Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management, said that the development of society is impossible without women’s empowerment. He added that the scheme would enable women to play a key role in building a ‘Developed Odisha’.
Similarly, Sunil Kumar Panda, representative of the Bargarh MP, extended Raksha Purnima greetings to everyone and stated that the financial assistance under the Subhadra Scheme would significantly contribute to the welfare of women and the economic development of their families.
During the programme, three Subhadra Scheme beneficiaries came forward on the stage and shared their success stories. They described how the financial assistance had increased their confidence and helped them move towards self-reliance.
