Nandapur, 20th Aug 2025: In Koraput district, heavy rains triggered by a low-pressure system caused the collapse of four houses in the Nandapur tehsil area on Monday.
According to Nandapur Tehsildar Debabrata Maharana, three houses collapsed in the Bilaput revenue circle and one in the Khurji revenue circle. In Banur village under Atanda panchayat of Bilaput circle, the wall of a mud house collapsed.
In Badaput village of Khurji circle, the house of Dhana Dora partially collapsed, with one side wall giving way. Revenue inspectors have immediately provided polythene sheets as emergency relief to all affected families. The district administration has been informed of the incident.
Tehsildar Maharana further said that compensation under the house-damage assistance scheme will be provided after damage assessment. Since heavy rainfall is forecast for Tuesday in the district, the Nandapur tehsil administration is on high alert.
