Bhubaneswar, May 27: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, speaking at the closing ceremony of the 3rd International Conference on Indian Cultural Heritage (ICICH), emphasized the importance of learning from history to solve present-day challenges.
Focusing on the theme “Kalinga and Southeast Asia: The Civilization Connect,” the Governor highlighted Odisha’s long-standing maritime ties with Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. He noted that these ancient connections contributed to cultural exchange, trade, and regional cooperation, and remain relevant for addressing today’s development and environmental issues.
Governor Kambhampati praised the efforts of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, Utkal University, and the Institute of Media Studies for organizing the event, describing it as a step towards reconnecting with Odisha’s rich cultural roots.
The event also saw participation from several dignitaries, including MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, former diplomat Lalit Mansingh, and One Asia Foundation Chairman Patita Paban Mishra.
