Grand Celebrations Mark Public Gandhi Fair Event

Dhusuri, Feb, 16: The 79th death anniversary ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi was observed with great solemnity at Gandhighat Shasan in Saanlapur, under Dhamnagar block of Bhadrak district, located at the confluence of the sacred Baitarani, Kochila, and Saraswati rivers. The event was organized under the auspices of the Gandhi Smriti Committee.

At 6:30 a.m., a ceremonial lamp was lit near the statue of Gandhi by Ramakanta Patri. At 7:00 a.m., a morning procession (Prabhat Pheri) was held, followed by a village cleanliness drive conducted by Lakshman Pati and members of the Gandhighat Youth Association. In the presence of Additional District Magistrate Saroj Dutta and Dhamnagar BDO Banabihari Dinda, ritual offerings (til tarpan) were made to Bapu at the Triveni Sangam, after which the national flag was hoisted. Among other distinguished guests present were Palasahi Sarpanch Ajay Mallik, former Sarpanch Sushant Nayak, social worker Ranjan Mohanty, and social worker Purushaim Panigrahi.

Similarly, at the Gandhi Memorial Pavilion premises in Betaligaan market under Palasahi Panchayat, a Public Gandhi Fair and Agricultural Exhibition were organized by the Sarbajanin Gandhi Mela Committee. Established in 1976, the Public Gandhi Fair celebrated its 50th anniversary this year with great festivity. Distinguished guests included Dr. Sudhir Ranjan Nayak, Pandit Sangram Acharya, Headmaster of Akhandalamani মাধ্যমিক High School Nihar Ranjan Kar, and Engineer Rabindra Kumar Jena, among others.
