Grand World Indigenous Day Celebration Held in Nabarangpur with Massive Rally, Showcasing the Cultural Heritage, Unity and Aspirations of Indigenous Communities

Bhubaneswar,  Aug 17 [UDN}:On the occasion of World Indigenous Day, the Akhil Bharatiya Bhathara Samaj, Nabarangpur, organized a massive march and public meeting to celebrate the rich culture, traditions, art and lifestyle of the tribal community.
Thousands of members of the Bhathara community from different parts of Nabarangpur district participated in the event. Dressed in traditional attire and accompanied by traditional musical instruments and vibrant tribal dances, the participants took out a grand procession through the town, conveying a strong message of unity, dignity and collective determination for the protection of their rights and future.
The procession showcased the community’s deep-rooted cultural heritage and traditional way of life. Participants emphasized that preserving indigenous traditions and identity is essential for strengthening the social fabric of the tribal community and ensuring that future generations remain connected with their roots.
A public meeting was organized following the procession. Speakers highlighted the need to protect the culture, customs, language, art and traditions of tribal communities. They also stressed the importance of safeguarding water, forests and land, which remain closely connected with the livelihood, identity and heritage of indigenous communities.
The speakers further called for greater attention to the education, social development and economic empowerment of the younger generation. They urged tribal youth to become aware of their constitutional and legal rights, pursue education and actively participate in the development of their communities.
The programme also underlined the importance of unity among members of the tribal society in addressing social, economic and developmental challenges. The large participation of people from different parts of Nabarangpur reflected their commitment to preserving their identity, culture and traditional way of life while working towards a better future.
