Gurukrupa , Aug 13 [UDN}: A Cyber Security Awareness Campaign was successfully organized at the premises of Gurukrupa Higher Secondary School, with the objective of educating students about the safe and responsible use of digital technology and the internet.
During the programme, Officer-in-Charge Jugal Sabar sensitized the students about safe internet practices in the present digital age. He emphasized the importance of using social media responsibly and advised students not to accept friend requests from unknown individuals. He also urged them not to share personal or confidential information with strangers through online platforms.
Sub-Inspector Sanjay Mandal spoke about the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of OTPs and passwords. He specifically cautioned students against sharing their bank OTPs, ATM PINs, social media passwords or other sensitive credentials with anyone, regardless of the circumstances.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Bishwaranjan Padhi educated the students about the risks associated with unknown and suspicious links. He advised them not to click on suspicious or attractive-looking links received through emails, text messages or social media, as such links could potentially lead to cyber fraud, data theft or other online crimes.
During the awareness programme, Prabhas Malakar explained important cyber-security precautions and highlighted the need for responsible social media usage. He also informed the students about the procedure for reporting cyber fraud and emphasized that victims can immediately dial the 1930 cybercrime helpline number to seek assistance in cases of financial or other cyber fraud.
The initiative undertaken by the Umerkote Police authorities was widely appreciated. Jaya Tripathi, Principal of Gurukrupa Degree College, expressed her view that such awareness programmes would play an important role in helping students become responsible, alert and informed digital citizens. She stressed that awareness about cyber security is essential in an increasingly digital society.
Guru Prasad Padhi, a trustee member of the institution, said that every citizen has an important responsibility towards maintaining cyber security and should remain vigilant while using digital platforms and online services.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sudhanshu Sekhar Tahl, Principal of Gurukrupa Higher Secondary School.
The event was conducted and coordinated by Er. Chandana Mallik, Public Relations Officer of the institution.
The awareness campaign served as an important initiative to educate young students about cyber threats, online safety, privacy protection and responsible digital behaviour, while encouraging them to adopt safe and cautious practices in their everyday use of technology.
