Heavy Rains Disrupt Access to Kundura Block Headquarters

Kundura,2nd Sept 2025: The Kundura block is surrounded by several rivers, and due to recent rains, water is flowing over multiple bridges, cutting off connectivity to the Kundura block headquarters from all directions. Around noon, water flowed over the Lima Kurll river bridge, completely stopping communication in the Lima area. Similarly, in the Digapur area, water about 2-3 feet deep flowed over the Barinadi river and the Digapur connecting canal bridge. From morning till 4 PM, communication between Digapur and Kundura and Jaypur was disrupted. However, by evening, as the water receded, traffic resumed on these roads.

Despite this, the water level on the Lima river remained high. This has disrupted road access to Lima from nearby Panchayats like Cherka and Asana. Students returning home from Lima School also faced difficulties.

In the Kerameti Panchayat, the main road over the Chiliguḍā Kurjundi river bridge saw nearly 5 feet of water. The main road connecting Bagaderi and Rāniguḍā Panchayats has about 2 feet of water flowing over the Ghaḍangāguda Kurll Nurlan river bridge. These areas have also experienced waterlogging in rice fields.

The block administration has been alert since early morning. Additional Tahsildar Ashok Kumar Pal has inspected all affected areas and collected detailed information.

Water levels have decreased in the Digapur area, and communication has normalized there. However, water continues to flow over the bridges in Lima, Chiliguḍā, and Ghaḍangāguda.

Officials warn that if it does not rain further during the night, normal traffic flow may resume from the next day onwards. Currently, there is no report of any major damage or loss.

Police teams led by Thana Officer Ashwini Ku Patnaik are stationed on both sides of the affected bridges, monitoring the situation and restricting road access to prevent accidents.
