Raighar, March 19: For the first time at the Raighar Block office in Raighar of Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, three transgender persons have been issued ration cards.
The beneficiaries include Jayanti Bala from Mohanda village, Bipotta Ray from Paurbela village, and Santulal Gand from Daspur village. While one transgender person had received a ration card earlier, another application is currently under process.
The ration cards were distributed in the chamber of the Block Development Officer, and the three beneficiaries were also included under the Antyodaya Yojana scheme. Among those present at the event were Block Development Officer Ritu Singh, Social Security Officer Gyan Ranjan Matia, Supply Inspector Deodhar Dhurua, and District Transgender Association Secretary Chumuki Kinnar.
Under the leadership of District Transgender Association President Kajol Kinnar and Secretary Chumuki Kinnar, the organization has earned praise for its social service initiatives across 10 blocks of the district. Their activities include distributing blankets to poor and helpless people during winter and participating in blood donation drives.
