Borangpur |10th Sept 2025: On the occasion of the 75th birthday celebration of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is observing Seva Paksha (a fortnight of service). As part of this initiative, a beautifully decorated chariot for the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name) was inaugurated at the District Forest Department Office.
The ceremonial flag-off of the chariot was conducted by Nabarangpur MLA Shri Gaurishankar Majhi, officially launching the initiative.
According to District Forest Officer Shubhendu Behera, the chariot will tour all 189 gram panchayats of the district. Its purpose is twofold:
1. To raise public awareness about the importance and benefits of tree plantation.
2. To facilitate the plantation of 500 saplings in each panchayat, with the goal of widespread afforestation.
As per the plan, saplings will be distributed to all 189 panchayats in the district.
Besides MLA Shri Majhi, the inauguration event also witnessed the participation of Forest Ranger Gopinath Sahu, along with all staff and officials of the Forest Department, who actively supported and contributed to the success of the program.
The campaign beautifully ties environmental protection with emotional sentiment, encouraging people to plant a tree in honor of their mothers.
