Balasore, February 27, 2025: India has successfully completed flight trials of its new naval anti-ship missile (NASM-SR), enhancing its maritime defense capabilities. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy conducted the tests at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur.

The missile was launched from a Seaking helicopter and demonstrated its ability to lock onto and strike targets with precision. It featured a man-in-loop capability, allowing for in-flight retargeting. The missile uses an advanced infrared seeker, solid propulsion, and a high-bandwidth datalink to send real-time images to the pilot for retargeting.

Developed by multiple DRDO labs, the NASM-SR successfully hit a small ship target in sea-skimming mode, proving its effectiveness. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO and its partners for the successful trials.
