Keonjhar, March 3: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that JSW and POSCO will jointly establish a ₹40,000 crore mega steel plant in Keonjhar’s Patna area. The project, aimed at boosting the district’s steel industry, will see an overall investment of over ₹1 lakh crore. Majhi expressed his joy in fulfilling his promise to bring a steel plant to the region.
The plant, part of a partnership between JSW and POSCO, will have a capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum. The Chief Minister also unveiled a ₹4 crore grant for the construction of a new building at Chandra Sekhar College in Champua.
Commitment to Farmers’ Welfare
At the inauguration of the Regional Agriculture Machinery Fair, Majhi emphasized the government’s efforts to improve farmers’ incomes. He highlighted initiatives like the Krushak Samruddhi Yojana and a higher budget allocation for agriculture in the 2025-26 state budget to support modern farming techniques and enhance productivity.
