Kelia Shaiv Peeth Hosts Planning Meeting Ahead of Maha Shivaratri

Nabarangpur, Feb, 6: A preparatory meeting was held on Tuesday at Deoband Kelia Shaiv Peeth, located under Chacharaghuda Panchayat in Dabugam block, to discuss arrangements for this year’s Maha Shivaratri celebration.

As Maha Shivaratri will be observed on February 15, preparations have already begun. Kelia, one of the prominent Shaiv pilgrimage sites in Nabarangpur district, witnesses the gathering of thousands of devotees every year.

The temple committee has stated that special attention will be given to the safety and security of devotees. Temple Committee Secretary Debaraj Patra and other committee members expressed their views during the meeting.

Kelia is not only a Shaiv shrine but also a popular tourist destination in Odisha. Devotees and visitors come here not only from different parts of the district but also from the neighboring state of Chhattisgarh. About 2 kilometers through the forest from the Shiva temple lies a hill cave temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati, which is one of the main attractions of Kelia temple.

The shrine is managed by a registered committee.
Among those present at the meeting were Dabugam Tahsildar Geeta Murmu, Block Development Officer Samir Patra, Officer-in-Charge of Dabugam Police Station Gopal Krishna Agu Patra, Temple Committee Secretary Debaraj Patra, President G. Sai Raju, Surendra Mishra, Block Chairman Beena Majhi, Chacharaghuda Sarpanch Ranju Bhatra, former Sarpanch Dharmananda Nayak, Surya Subuddhi, Bhagirath Majhi, Padma Majhi, Bhagaban Khuntia, and others.
