Key Development Issues Discussed as Dr. Nayak Reviews Progress on Day Two

Nabarangpur,Nov 25:  Bureau (Dr. Shiva Narayan Patra): A review meeting on the implementation of various ongoing schemes in the district was held at the District Council Auditorium under the chairmanship of Dr. N. Tirumala Nayak, Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department and Commissioner. The meeting was attended by District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain, Additional District Collector for Revenue Vishwalit Barman, Chief Development Officer of the District Council Biranchi Narayan Darowan, Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, DEO Chhatrapati Sahu, and other senior officials.

During the meeting, the Secretary asked departmental officers about the progress of various schemes including Subhadra Yojana, Antodaya Gruha, PM Jan Arogya Yojana, Biometric cards, PM-SHRI, Chief Minister’s Road Scheme, Saksham Anganwadi Centers, and Hostels. The Secretary directed the District Education Officer to coordinate with the District Labor Officer to enhance the rescue process for child laborers and ensure arrangements for their continued education.

The DEO was also instructed to ensure that if any student experiences serious health issues, they should be immediately taken to a hospital and their guardians informed. The Roads and Building Department and Panchayati Raj Department were directed to complete ongoing works in various schools, including the construction of additional classrooms and boundary walls, as soon as possible. The CDMO was instructed to take measures to identify sickle-cell disease and anemia among students. Measures were also directed to prevent the sale of deficient maize. The CDMO and District Council were instructed to monitor the completion of targets under the Antodaya Gruha scheme.

According to the information received, 23 PM-SHRI schools in the district have been selected for various development initiatives. A total of 46,230 PM Jan Arogya cards and 25,118 Biometric cards have been distributed in the district. By 2024–25, out of a total target of 136,478 houses under the PM Housing Scheme, 117,489 have been constructed. For 2025–26, under the Antodaya Gruha scheme, only 203 out of a target of 5294 houses in the district have been completed. Under the Subhadra Yojana, out of 326,202 applications, 285,705 individuals have received the third installment of financial assistance. A total of 482 hostels in the district accommodate 48,003 students.

On the second day of his tour, Secretary Dr. Tirumala Nayak visited the SSDE High and Middle Girls’ School in Dabu village, inspecting teaching, examinations, cleanliness, sports, and health facilities. He also oversaw the plantation of a tree named “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam,” visited the new model residential school at Amrit Sarovar, and checked the facilities and learning environment for students at Junapani school.
