Key Meeting Convened by Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department to Review Procurement, Distribution and Consumer-Related Matters

Bhubaneswar,  Aug 24 [UDN}:Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra with senior departmental officials to review the situation arising from the rising prices of essential commodities across the state. The meeting focused on the recent increase in prices of daily-use items and the steps required to provide relief to consumers.
The minister discussed the availability, supply, stock position and market prices of essential commodities with the concerned officials. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring a steady supply of essential goods, preventing artificial shortages, monitoring market practices and taking necessary action against unfair price hikes.
Minister Krushna Chandra Patra directed the officials to closely monitor prices in different markets across Odisha and ensure that consumers are not subjected to unreasonable increases in the prices of essential commodities. He also stressed the need for effective coordination among the concerned departments and field-level officials so that any irregularities in the market can be identified and addressed promptly.
The meeting assumed significance amid growing concerns over the rising cost of essential commodities, which has been affecting household budgets. The minister underlined the government’s commitment to maintaining price stability and ensuring that essential items remain available to the public at reasonable and affordable prices.
