KIIT and Utkal University Lead on Day One of Swimming Championship

Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: The North East Zone Inter University Swimming Championship 2024-25 kicked off at KIIT University on Thursday, with KIIT and Utkal University taking the spotlight on the opening day. The competition, which runs through November 30, has attracted over 500 swimmers from 110 universities.

KIIT’s swimmers shone brightly, claiming five medals. Divyanka Diyajyoti Pradhan won gold in the women’s 200m breaststroke and added a bronze in the 400m freestyle. Firdoush Kayamkani secured a gold in the women’s 400m medley, while Nilabja Ghosh grabbed a bronze in the 50m butterfly. The team also won gold in the women’s 4x200m relay with Divyanka, Firdoush, Nilabja, and Rithvika Mittapaalli representing KIIT.

Utkal University was also in top form, especially with national-level swimmer Pratyasa Roy. Roy dominated her events, winning gold in the women’s 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle, along with a silver in the 400m medley.
The event continues to bring fierce competition and excitement, with more action expected over the next few days.
