Bhubaneswar, July 11 (UDN): The water level of the Mahanadi River has increased after the first floodwater release of the season from the Hirakud Dam reached the Mundali barrage in Cuttack on Saturday.
The Water Resources Department is closely monitoring the river flow following the controlled release of water from the reservoir. Officials are keeping a constant watch on water levels at key locations and assessing the situation to ensure timely action if required.
Authorities have stepped up monitoring in areas along the river and are taking necessary precautionary measures to manage the increased water flow. People living in vulnerable and low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
Officials said further measures will depend on the river’s flow pattern, rainfall conditions, and water levels at different points along the Mahanadi basin.
