Nayagarh,Sept 9 [UDN}: A self-reliance-based skill training programme was inaugurated today at the premises of the Nayagarh District Jail with the objective of equipping prison beneficiaries with vocational skills and helping them become financially independent.
Nayagarh District Collector Ms. Madhumita Rath attended the inaugural programme as the chief guest. Other prominent officials present on the occasion included Assistant Superintendent of Police Jyotiranjan Samantaray, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Srushti Pradhan, District Jail Superintendent Babuli Barik, District Skill Development and Employment Officer Manaswi Sethi, and Manoj Kumar Sethi, Director of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Nayagarh.
The District Collector inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the importance of skill development and explained how such training programmes could help prison beneficiaries become self-reliant not only while they are inside the correctional facility but also after their release from prison.
Jail Superintendent Babuli Barik and District Skill Development and Employment Officer Manaswi Sethi also discussed the future prospects of the initiative. They requested the District Collector to give special attention to creating opportunities for the marketing and sale of products manufactured by the beneficiaries after completing their skill training. The initiative is expected to provide inmates and other prison beneficiaries with practical skills that could help them earn a livelihood and reintegrate into society with greater confidence and independence.
As part of the programme, training-related equipment and materials were distributed among the beneficiaries by the District Collector and the Assistant Superintendent of Police. The training programme is being supported by Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Nayagarh, which is providing skill-based training and necessary learning materials to the participants.
At the conclusion of the programme, all the guests inspected samples of the products and training materials that are proposed to be prepared within the jail premises as part of the skill development initiative.
Manoj Kumar Sethi, Director of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Nayagarh, expressed his gratitude to the District Skill Development and Employment Officer and the Jail Superintendent for their cooperation and for successfully organising the programme. He also expressed hope that the training initiative would be implemented successfully in the coming days and would help the beneficiaries build a more self-reliant and productive future.
