Malkangiri , May 04: World Malaria Day 2026 was observed in Malkangiri with a district-level training program jointly organized by the District Health Society and Piramal Foundation.
During the program, detailed discussions were held on building a malaria-free Malkangiri, and a strong action plan was prepared. Emphasis was placed on three key strategies—Trace, Test, and Treat—to ensure early detection and complete treatment of malaria.
Based on sub-division and panchayat-level data, malaria-prone areas were identified, and a targeted action plan for 2026–27 was developed. Health officials and representatives from Piramal Foundation highlighted the importance of using medicated mosquito nets, regular awareness campaigns, and timely blood testing for effective prevention and treatment.
The program saw participation from the District Health Officer, Additional District Social Welfare Officer, Additional District Education Officer, ASHA workers, teachers, hostel superintendents, nursing students, and foundation members.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to work towards a malaria-free Malkangiri.
