New Delhi, Jan 3: Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker, world chess champion D Gukesh, hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh, and para-athlete Praveen Kumar will be honoured with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award. The awards will be conferred by President Droupadi Murmu on January 17.
Bhaker is celebrated for her two Olympic medals, while Harmanpreet led the Indian hockey team to a second consecutive bronze. Gukesh, the youngest chess world champion, played a key role in India’s Chess Olympiad victory. Praveen Kumar earned gold at the Paris Paralympics.
Additionally, 17 para-athletes are included in the list of 32 Arjuna awardees, recognising their achievements at the Paris Paralympics.
