Kotpad, Feb, 12: A medical check-up, vaccination, and training camp was organised at Patel House in Kotpad for Muslim brothers and sisters preparing for the Hajj pilgrimage.
Muslim community members who are financially self-reliant undertake the sacred Hajj journey. In this context, around 39 Muslim men and women from the undivided Koraput district — including Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Umerkote, and Kotpad areas — participated in the preparatory programme.
Among those present at the event were Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhatra, MP’s representative Rameshwar Jena, Sunni Jamaat President MD Salim, Arib Patel, and State Hajj Committee functionaries Tevaraj Ruban and Syed Azar, along with members of the Muslim community and their families.
Earlier, such programmes were conducted in Bhubaneswar. However, for the convenience of district residents and with the support of the State Government, this programme was organised in Kotpad town for the first time. The Muslim community of Kotpad expressed their gratitude to MLA Rupu Bhatra for facilitating this arrangement.
Kotpad Medical Officer Ranjit Das and other health staff were present and conducted preliminary health check-ups and administered necessary vaccinations.
Members of the Sunni Jamaat of Kotpad actively participated and extended full cooperation in making the programme successful. The Kotpad Sunni Jamaat Committee expressed thanks to all those present for their support and participation.
