Bhubaneswar, April 14: The 37th meeting of the State Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Mohan Charan Majhi. A total of 19 proposals were presented in the meeting, out of which 16 proposals from 13 departments were discussed and approved. This also included the proposal related to the prorogation of the 6th session of the 17th Legislative Assembly.
As per the Cabinet’s approval, a major change has been decided in the reservation policy for admission into medical, engineering, and other technical courses in Odisha.
Reservation for Scheduled Tribes (ST) students has been increased from 12% to 22.5%
Reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC) students has been increased from 8% to 16.25%
Students belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) will benefit from 11.25% reservation
This decision aims to provide greater opportunities to students from reserved categories in higher education.
