Nabarangpur Marks World AIDS Day Through Rallies and Health Campaigns

Nabarangpur,  Dec, 08:To raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and this year’s theme: “Eliminate Stigma, Transform AIDS Response”, a public awareness rally was organized from Nabarangpur Municipality Chowk to RCD High School, Padiya, involving nearly 300 participants. The event included NCC, NSS, Scouts, RRC, YRC, JRC, students from various higher secondary schools and colleges, officials from government and non-government organizations, and all Sakhi Unit staff. The rally began at 9:00 AM, under the supervision of Dr. Santosh Kumar Panda, Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer, along with Municipality Chairperson Kunu Nayak, ADPHO (TB) & DACO, Dr. Malay Kumar Tripathy, DPHO, Dr. Nabakishore Behera, and other distinguished guests.

Dr. Santosh Kumar Panda flagged off the rally, which proceeded to RCD High School, Padiya, where a general assembly was organized at 10:00 AM with all participants. The assembly was presided over by District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain, along with Municipality Chairperson Kunu Nayak, ADPHO Dr. Malay Kumar Tripathy, DPHO Dr. Nabakishore Behera, DIPRO Manoj Kumar Behera, District Coordinator of Ramak Foundation Namita Suna, Branch Manager LIC & SBI, CPM & DISHA Officer Chandrashekhar Pattnayak, ADPHO Ramhari Panda, Manorama Majhi, PD (TI-GHIES) Ishwar Chandra Sabat, RCD High School Headmaster and other teachers, office staff, various government and non-government officials, and representatives of the media.

During the event, ADPHO (TB) & DACO Dr. Malay Kumar Tripathy explained this year’s theme: “Eliminate Stigma, Transform AIDS Response”, and District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain along with other senior officials shared their views on how HIV/AIDS can be prevented, the importance of spreading knowledge and awareness, and measures for prevention.

The main objective of the program was to inform the public about HIV/AIDS prevention and control, and under the leadership of the District Collector, a pledge was taken to create an AIDS-free society. Participants expressed their commitment by signing on a pledge board, showing their support for the cause.
