Baipariguda Feb, 5: On the occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary, a public meeting was organized by the Koraput District Committee of AIDSO at Shaheed Laxman Nayak Library in Baipariguda.
The meeting was presided over by Mr. Jagannath Harijan, Secretary of the Koraput District Committee of AIDSO. Mr. Surajit Jit Swain, President of AIDSO Koraput District, delivered the introductory address.
Chief Guest Mrs. Indumati Das urged students to learn from the life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and shape their character accordingly. The keynote speaker stated that Netaji’s dream remains unfulfilled even after 78 years of independence. He said that due to the privatization of education and healthcare, these essential services are gradually moving out of the reach of common people. He further alleged that by implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the government has initiated steps that could severely damage the education system and harm students’ interests.
He also expressed concern over rising unemployment, illiteracy, and poor-quality education in the country. Additionally, he pointed out the increasing incidents of crimes against women and girl students, including rape, murder, harassment, moral degradation, and the spread of alcohol and drugs. In such a situation, he emphasized the urgent need to discuss and follow the lives of great leaders like Netaji.
Hundreds of school and college students attended the meeting organized on the occasion of Netaji Jayanti. Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions held on January 18 at Shaheed Laxman Nayak Library.
Among others present at the meeting were AIDSO members Pramila Pujari, Mithula Katali, Nabina Barik, and Raghunath Kumar.
