New Chapter for Women’s NCC Unfolds at Jeypore University

Jeypore, 8th Sept 2025: A new chapter has begun for the Women’s NCC unit of Vikram Deb University. With an increase in the number of female cadets in the university’s NCC, a felicitation ceremony was organized by the NCC unit.

Under the leadership of Captain Dr. Lakshman Patra, the Principal of Vikram Deb Higher Secondary School and NCC Officer, the ceremony was held with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Deviprasad Mishra, as the Chief Guest. The event was also graced by the Registrar Maheswar Chandra Nayak and Officer Commanding Lt. Colonel Narsel Preetiranjan Das as honored guests.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Mishra expressed that this co-unit of male and female cadets under the new education policy will be a milestone for the university. He encouraged the cadets and emphasized the importance of inclusive NCC training.

On this occasion, Officer Commanding Mr. Das was felicitated by the Vice Chancellor with a memento and a certificate of honor.

Among the attendees were Nishan Pattnayak, Durgaprasad Sahu, Ranjan Sahu, and Mohammad Sarif. Subedar Praveen Kumar and Senior Assistant Narayan Barik also contributed to organizing the event.

A cultural program was also presented during the ceremony.

Important Note:
Previously, only male cadets were allowed to enroll in the Vikram Deb University NCC unit, which was limited to 75 cadets. Now, with the inclusion of female cadets, the total number of cadets has increased to 160, including 107 male and 53 female cadets.
