New Foot Over Bridge Opens at Palasuni for Pedestrian Safety

Bhubaneswar, March 6: A long-awaited foot over bridge (FOB) was inaugurated at Palasuni on National Highway-16, connecting Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, addressing ongoing safety concerns for pedestrians. The FOB, costing around ₹2 crore, was built in response to frequent accidents and fatalities in the area due to the lack of a safe crossing.

Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, who inaugurated the bridge, highlighted that it would improve infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion, and ensure pedestrian safety. She also announced plans for two more FOBs at Tankapani Road and Nakhara.

Local residents, who had long advocated for the bridge, expressed relief. Social activist Natayan Prusty, who had campaigned for the FOB for seven years, emphasized that many lives were lost due to the unsafe crossing, and the new bridge finally offers a safer solution.

Sarangi, who has been working on enhancing road infrastructure in the region, had previously inaugurated a flyover at Hanspal to alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety.
