New Martyrs’ Memorial to Come Up on 7.5 Acres; Foundation Stone Laid

Papadahandi, Jan, 22:   The foundation stone for a new Martyrs’ Memorial (Shaheed Minar) was laid at the Papadahandi Tribal Museum ground. The new memorial, along with a park, will be constructed over an area of approximately 7.5 acres, at an estimated cost of Rs6 crore.

The foundation-laying ceremony was held under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain. School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond attended the event as the chief guest. Among the dignitaries present as guests of honor were Dabugaon MLA Manohar Randhari, Nabarangpur MLA Gaurishankar Majhi, former MP Parshuram Majhi, MP’s representative Harimohan Sharma, Block Chairperson Hemalata Majhi, Dabugaon Block Chairperson Beena Majhi, Block Vice-Chairperson Sushant Kumar Behera, Tribal Forum General Secretary Lachhman Majhi, Sub-Collector Pradeep Chandra Mishra, and ADMO Bishwajit Barman, who were seated on the dais.

Minister Nityananda Gond formally laid the foundation stone. The proposed design and new look of the Martyrs’ Memorial were displayed through a projector.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the development of tourist destinations would contribute significantly to the overall development of the district. He added that the government has approved funds for Nabarangpur district in several sectors. He also informed that an amount of ₹5 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a Cultural Bhavan.

At the end of the programme, Block Vice-Chairperson Sushant Kumar Behera delivered the vote of thanks. On this occasion, a proposal for construction of a bypass road at Papadahandi was also put forward.

Prominent attendees included BJP District President Kunjabihari Das, State Vice-President Ramesh Chandra Sahu, Prahlad Tripathy, Manas Ranjan Das, Manoj Agrawal, BDO Kapildev Sahu, and Tahasildar Tapan Kumar Nayak, among others.
